Hook, Line, and Sprinter

Hook, Line, and Sprinter is a first-person grappling platformer that I was working on as part of a team of three. My responsibilities on the team were developing and refining the movement system, level design, and aim assistance mechanic. The movement system focuses on swinging from certain surfaces the player latches onto with their fishing rod, as well as running, jumping, and sliding.See more at: https://friendluke.itch.io/hook-line-sprinter

GGD Engine

The GGD Engine is a 2D game engine designed to be used with Python. It was written using C++, and then bound into a Python Library using Pybind, as part of a four-person team. My teammate and I's role in the project was developing the component system that served as the backbone of the engine. The engine supported a number of different components that could be added to GameObjects for tasks such as sprite rendering, tile mapping, sound, physics and collisions.

Drummage: Dungeon of the Bongo-d

Drummage is a dungeon crawler featuring turn based rhythm combat. Working as part of a team of four, I designed and programmed the main combat system for the game.In combat, players plan each of their turns by selecting a pattern of spells to cast, each with their own unique set of inputs. After choosing their set of spells, players begin the music. While the music plays, the player must perform each spell's set of inputs in rhythm to the beat of the music to cast them.

Each spell consists of one measure, which is divided into four beats, each of which could hold 1-2 notes. Players then must input the correct note, or notes, within the time frame of each beat of the measure to cast their spell correctly.

Clockwork Story

Clockwork Story is a 2D puzzle game I developed as part of a four person team for the Spring Global Game Jam in 2020 with the theme of repair. My responsibility for the game was designing and scripting the level's puzzle as well as integrating the game's music and audio using FMod's Unity plugin. As the player progressed through the puzzle by raising the bell higher and higher in the tower, I would use FMod to seemlessly switch between more and more complex background music tracks as more of the tower was repaired.

About

I love creating amazing experiences for games and software. My greatest strength is my background in both computer science and game development, as I have gained a broad understanding of how to both plan and create experiences that feel great for someone to interact with.
